Hey, today I had another insightful conversation with one of my clients. We delved into a topic that often carries a lot of stigma: the importance of self-care without feeling guilty about it. It's a notion that can be challenging to grasp, especially when you're navigating through the uncharted territory of a new chapter in your life.

For many, including myself, the concept of self-care can feel synonymous with selfishness. But here's the thing - it's not. It's far from it. Taking care of yourself isn't about neglecting others or prioritizing your needs above everyone else's. Instead, it's about recognizing that your well-being matters just as much as anyone else's.

In fact, prioritizing one's wellbeing is crucial for maintaining a sense of balance and resilience, especially during tumultuous times like divorce. It's about nurturing your mental and emotional health, cultivating a calm and centered mind, and making decisions that align with your values and aspirations.

When you invest in your needs, you're not just benefiting yourself; you're also enhancing your ability to show up fully in every aspect of your life. Whether it's at work, with your children, or in your relationships, self-care enables you to bring your best self to the table, thereby enriching the experiences of those around you.

Sure, some may label it as selfishness, but I see it differently. I see it as an act of self-love and self-respect. It's about acknowledging your worth and honoring your needs, even when it feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar.

Moreover, embracing one's wellbeing isn't just about pampering yourself with bubble baths and spa days (although those can be wonderful!). It's also about setting boundaries, practicing mindfulness, seeking support when needed, and learning from life's challenges.

So, if anyone ever accuses you of being selfish for prioritizing self-care, don't let it deter you. Remember that taking care of yourself is a fundamental aspect of reclaiming your identity and navigating life's complexities with grace and resilience.

I encourage you to reflect on your own relationship with self-care and to embrace it wholeheartedly. Together, let's reclaim our identities and prioritize our well-being.

Here's to honoring ourselves and reclaiming our self-identity.
